202504191056 Writing consistently

#microblog

I find it really hard to write consistently. More accurately, I find it really hard to finish writing things and publish them consistently.

I think it has to do with my expectations for the level of quality that I want to produce when I write. There’s definitely a time element too though.

It takes a lot of time to produce high quality writing and I’m not interested in posting lots of low quality things. I suspect that there is a 202110231515 Feedback loop that makes writing take longer the less practice you have, and disproportionately less time with more practice. So hopefully if I simply write more often, I will get better and quicker. In the meantime though, it's going to take some effort.

I also need to focus on actually finishing things. I have more half finished draft posts than I have published posts. Again, this probably comes back to skill and quality issues. It takes skill to get a post to the cohesive whole that it needs to be for me to feel comfortable with publishing it.

However I look at it, I’d like to increase my writing time and output. Which starts with getting anything — this lame post about writing for instance — done and out there.
